\n The Berlin AFT AI team works on item understanding with AI & computer vision for Amazon\'s fulfillment network. We are tackling hard challenges like item identification and damage detection across all of Amazon\'s retail catalog (billions of items, thousands of new items every day).
Our team owns products outright, from inception / ideation to full scale implementation. We aim to build production level solutions that provide substantial value to our customers at scale.

We\'re looking for a software development manager to join our team and help us continue to innovate.

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon\'s global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon customers can get what they want, when they want it.

AFT AI leverages advanced algorithms and real-time data processing to build solutions that solve complex challenges, ranging from scaling for Amazon\'s massive order volume to enabling ultrafast order fulfillment.

Lead a team of software and machine learning engineers to enable computer vision and multi-modal machine learning applications at scale.
Own training and inference infrastructure (cloud & edge) that supports computer vision at Amazon\'s scale.
Build annotation pipelines and own data collection processes for a team of >40 people.
Work with applied and data scientists to develop the right roadmap for the changing needs of our science teams. Dive deep into designs and engineering solutions and make sure they fit organizational needs.
Bring computer vision applications from prototype to production.

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of engineering experience
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product and program management teams
• 3+ years of experience leading ML engineering teams in an industrial context
• Substantial knowledge of the state of the art in CV based engineering

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in building products with computer vision / deep learning systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
• Master or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics or similar
• Experience with annotation / active learning / human in the loop workflows in an industrial setting
