Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. This position will work from the Conestoga Skilled Trades Campus (CSTC) located at 25 Reuter Drive.

Responsibilities:

\n

The School of Trades & Apprenticeship is currently seeking a qualified professional to join the Electrical Technician-Industrial, Electrical Techniques, and Electrician -Construction and Maintenance (309A)/Industrial (442A) program teams. Under the direction of the Chair, the Professor is responsible for providing the delivery of curriculum, development of an effective learning environment for students, and academic leadership:

  • Designing, updating, and delivering a variety of courses including project courses\n
  • Defining, evaluating, and validating program and course learning outcomes\n
  • Developing alternative delivery strategies, online course development, and teaching as required\n
  • Ensuring program and course curriculum are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices in the field\n
  • Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement\n
  • Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment that supports the diversity of students\xe2\x80\x99 cultures, educational backgrounds and learning styles\n
  • Participating in department, portfolio/school and college-wide activities/task groups as required\n
  • Working in a collaborative, collegial manner both within the department and across the college\n
  • Support applied research activities including the identification and selection of potential projects\n
  • Development of industry partnerships and collaboration with industry partners\n
  • Fulfilling responsibilities as defined in the Academic Employees Collective Agreement\n

Qualifications:

\n
  • \n
  • Electrical Certificate of Qualification (442A or 309A) required\n
  • Minimum five years or more of relevant electrician industry experience as a licensed journeyperson (309A/442A) required\n
  • Possession of Electrical Certificate of Apprenticeship (C of A) preferred\n
  • One year of previous post-secondary classroom teaching experience required\n
  • Experience with curriculum development is an asset\n
  • Certified Technician through the Canadian Fire Alarm Association is preferred\n
  • Knowledge and experience of computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g., D2L) is preferred\n
  • Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills\n
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team\n
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and providing a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels including international students and students requiring accommodation is an asset\n
  • Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga\xe2\x80\x99s continuous quality improvement initiatives\n
  • Strong relationships with industry contacts and network connections are considered an asset\n
\n

Successful applicants will commence employment in December 2023. The vacation period for this position will be scheduled during the Fall semester.
