The Head of Contract Manager HVDC has a major role in the realization of the largest and most important projects of the Energy Transition in Europe and his/her contribution is important, visible and will make a difference. The Head of Contract Manager HVDC leads a team of contract managers in close cooperation with the project leadership team, overlooks, analyses, and clarifies the commercial and technical contractual rights and obligations of all stakeholders and thus has a major contribution to the execution and completion of a large turnkey project in the required time and quality and also to the achievement of the commercial targets.
Essential Responsibilities:
- manage all contractual issues related to a multi-million Euro project,
- work in close cooperation with the project director, supporting the team regarding contractual aspects of sourcing/procurement, engineering, standards and specifications, site management, erection, commissioning, testing and the taking over to the client,
- join and support the leadership team in all important client meetings,
- set up and draft contract amendments and lead the negotiations based on the strategy aligned with the management and the project directors,
- drive the change order and claim processes incl. insurance cases,
- support the invoicing processes,
- support the definition of interfaces between the different project stakeholders as well as the involved companies and experts,
- analyze and clarify the commercial contractual rights and obligations of the company in relationship with subcontractors and suppliers,
- set up and draft subcontracts, pass-through the main terms and conditions from the main contract into subcontracts and supplier purchase orders and lead the negotiations based on the strategy aligned with the management and the project directors,
- supervise the contractual communication and reporting versus all stakeholders and parties,
- support the warranty service teams in terms of notification of defects and remedy actions.
Main Duties:
- Collaborate with Legal, Sourcing, Procurement and Quality regarding contract management and best practices for process development,
- Support the execution start-ups of projects, including contract analysis and preparation of Project Contract Commercial Plans,
- Assume responsibility for all project contractual activities from hand over from Sales/Commercial until all relevant contractual obligations are complete, including financial reconciliation, and all relevant contractual issues are resolved/ settled,
- Lead the team in the identification of Customer / Consortium and other third-party obligations and development and implementation of the Project Contract Commercial Plan, including Project Claim Strategy,
- Liaise with the Project Director regarding commercial strategy development and execution to ensure that the contract schedule is met and appropriate schedules for subcontracts are produced and maintained, to support Project Claim Strategy,
- Support project risk and opportunity identification and analysis
- Support the management of risks and opportunities by development and implementation of appropriate Project Contract Commercial Plan,
- Ensure proper notices are given in line with contract requirements,
Management of claims to/from customers and consortium partners,
- Lead mitigation strategy development and negotiations on complex, multi-million Euro claims with customers, subcontractors, and consortium partners.
- Ensure appropriate documentation executed, including Settlement Agreements.
- Lead team in developing strategies for the management of customer change orders and other margin enhancement initiatives,
- Support the management of claims to/from subcontractors and suppliers as required,
- Establishment and implementation of project specification contractual procedures, particularly regarding claims, insurance, variation orders, correspondence and notifications,
- Support and guide the Project Management team in general contractual issues,
Clarification of contractual/legal queries, if required by referring to Legal.
Required
- Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree with at least 3 years of experience in contract management in EPC projects,
- Engineer, or commercial manager with technical background or legal education with, technical understanding,
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve issues,
- Strong analytical and risk assessment skills,
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-up,
- - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access),
Team leading and communication skills,
- Excellent in German and English, both spoken and written,
- Willingness to travel
- Based in the GE Berlin office - remote work from home office possible.
