Electro-Functional Systems Engineer (m/f/d)

Your Tasks

• Responsible for Electro-Functional Systems Engineering for Payload Projects, including coordinating and leading a project team of related engineers:

• Creation of related engineering work packages and follow-up over project duration
• Define instrument requirements related to Electro-Functional technical disciplines and challenge the compliance of the design solutions
• Elaboration, development and accommodation of Electro-Functional design baseline solutions on the basis of customer requirements and budgets
• Define and maintain all instrument Electro-Functional budgets, and to ensure these budgets remain within allocated requirements
• Ensure proper flow-down and allocation of lower level sub-system requirements and budgets and maintain them up to date during the program lifetime
• Responsible for the definition and specification of internal and external interfaces including margins and associated documentation
• Perform technical management of subcontracts in the assigned technical area
• Support the evaluation and management of deviations and non-conformances o Support implementation of agreed changes to the design and deliverables
• Collaboration with System technical management and other Systems Engineering disciplines
• Electro-functional Systems Engineering tasks for institutional and commercial proposals
• Electro-functional Systems Engineering tasks for the OHB Payload Support Team for example in the Project:

• Functional testing of the Payload o Support the functional activities of the payload Digital Processing Subsystem (DPS)
• EM Test Bench Support (temporary collocated at DLR Berlin premises), including preparation of payload functional test specifications and contributions to TRRs and TRBs
• Functional Validation and Verification Control Board (including preparation and management of the VCDs for the DPS)
• Support to DPS functional activities in the scope of specification, development, production and verification of the On-Board Control Procedures (OBCP)

Your Qualifications

• University / polytechnic degree or PhD in Physics or Engineering, ideally in one of the areas of Systems Engineering with focus on one or more of the Electro-Functional disciplines
• At least five to ten years of professional experience in design, development and verification activities for space projects, preferably for payload projects in the Electro-Functional area
• Organized and structured task approach, high degree of motivation
• Ability to lead and guide a project related Electro-Functional engineering team in combination with technical leadership capability
• Deep understanding of the system (from the electro-functional point of view) and ability to lead system and unit-level verification activities
• Strong focus on reaching progress by thinking and communicating in terms of solutions, and the ability of reaching goals under schedule pressure
• Excellent communication skills, combined with the ability to work in international and multi-disciplinary teams
• Fluent in English in reading and writing, German skills are a plus
